Founded by Al Bushey and proudly family-owned for over five decades, we’ve earned a reputation for craftsmanship, integrity, and personal service across Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana. Built on a foundation of hard work
Al Bushey learned his craft growing up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. After moving to Indiana in 1954, he worked as a carpenter before founding Bushey Construction in 1958, specializing in home remodeling. In the early days, he partnered with Scott’s IGA grocery stores to build custom produce racks, before shifting his focus primarily to home remodeling. Over the years, the entire Bushey family contributed to the business — from concrete work and framing to bookkeeping — building the reputation for quality and reliability that still defines the company today.
From storm windows to a Fort Wayne institution
In 1975, Al recognized an opportunity and purchased Fetter Brothers, a storm window store that was going out of business. Two years later, his sons Jim and Mike joined him, and together they grew the company from storm windows into full replacement windows — riding the industry’s expansion through the early 1980s and never looking back.
A family legacy, carried forward
Jim Bushey quickly became an integral part of the next generation of ownership at Bushey’s Windows and Doors, making it his mission to uphold the company’s long-standing reputation in the Fort Wayne area — built on craftsmanship, honest service, and a hands-on approach to every project.
